Powerful Touchpoints
Last year, for our anniversary, we booked an overnight at a new hotel.
The indoor and outdoor spaces were truly beautiful, the weather cooperated and the meals and beverages were excellent. What stands out in my mind one year later, though, are the personal touches they delivered for us as guests.
Upon check-in, we were provided a small mason jar filled with homemade cranberry lemonade. Refreshing surprise!
On the pillow in the room, there was a postcard for setting an intention for your stay with a number of prompts. During turndown service, they left a card with a gratitude wheel in the room. Nice way to end the day.
There was also a sign-up for "meet the farmer". We walked the fields and greenhouses with Brody as he explained their journey to becoming a true farm-to-table destination. Before we left, he loaded up a corrugated tray with organic vegetable seedlings for us to take home and nurture--and a half dozen eggs he picked along the way from the pasture-raised chickens.
These memories are lasting because they tap into emotion. And emotion is the fastest path to the long term memory of the brain. So when you think about your clients, customers, and colleagues, consider what you might do to capture a little space in their long term memory.
